ServeDeck and Skywave Co-Host PPKM Teh Tarik Talk on Data-Driven Mall Leasing

ServeDeck Innovation Sdn Bhd, together with Skywave Systems (M) Sdn Bhd, co-hosted the Persatuan Pengurusan Kompleks Malaysia (PPKM), Teh Tarik Talk bringing together shopping mall leasing teams for a practical discussion on the role of data in leasing decision-making.
The session explored how mall operators can move beyond relying solely on rental rates, historical practices or intuition by combining footfall patterns, leasing information and operational insights.
By connecting these different sources of information, leasing teams can gain a clearer understanding of how individual zones and tenants are performing. These insights can help identify areas with untapped potential, support tenant renewal discussions and guide more informed tenant-mix and leasing strategies.
The discussion also highlighted that people-counting data becomes more valuable when viewed alongside leasing and tenant performance information. Rather than treating footfall as an isolated number, mall operators can use traffic trends to better understand customer movement, tenant contribution and the commercial potential of different areas within a property.
The session encouraged an open exchange of experiences among participants, with discussions centred on the practical challenges faced by leasing teams and how reliable data can support stronger and more defensible decisions.
